PRR, Port Royal Viaduct, Three Arch, Four Track
Building a Rail Road for the ages! The
Pennsylvania Railroads westward expansion reached this area around 1852'. Bridges of wood and Iron construction
were commonm during this period. Many of the bridges and viaducts along this section were replaced during the 1880's
with cut stone arch designs. In many cases the original stone piers were utilized and incorporated into the viaduct
design. The Iron bridges were reused for local highways.
